The feet hover above the water, as if the surfer has just stepped off the board and is still carrying the momentum of the ride. Beneath them, the shallows lie almost perfectly still, a plane of pale grey that doubles everything it holds. The reflection forms an inverted V, the two legs meeting and parting in a mirror image of the stride, while a faint oval shape at the edge of the frame suggests the board, half-submerged and already forgotten.
